OnlyFans Reverses Explicit Content Ban After Outcry

OnlyFans has reversed its decision to ban sexually explicit content, saying commitments from its banking partners will allow the platform to continue supporting creators across all genres.

The company said the reversal preserves a vital income stream for millions of creators, particularly sex workers who relied on OnlyFans for financial stability during the pandemic. The platform reported about 130 million users and 2 million creators and said creators will be able to continue earning without sudden policy changes.

OnlyFans said maintaining a safe, inclusive online space can provide a safer alternative to street-based sex work. The reversal follows concerns that banking restrictions could have forced a ban on adult content.

With backing from its financial partners, OnlyFans said it is positioned to sustain its role in empowering creators and providing income opportunities while working to address challenges related to online safety and regulation.
