OnlyFans Fined £1 Million Over Inaccurate Information Responses

Fenix International Limited, the parent company of OnlyFans, has been fined £1.05 million by Ofcom after an investigation found the company misrepresented how its age assurance measures operated.

Ofcom’s inquiry focused on the platform’s “challenge age” setting, a parameter that determines when users face stricter age checks. Regulators concluded that inaccuracies in how this setting was described undermined confidence in OnlyFans’ ability to prevent underage access to adult material.

Age-estimation technologies, which analyse behaviour or images to infer users’ age ranges before requiring formal verification, are a key element of online safety for adult-content platforms. Ofcom said transparency about how these systems operate is fundamental to their effectiveness.

OnlyFans has pledged to strengthen its age verification systems and to work closely with regulators to address the issues identified. The company emphasised its commitment to user safety and privacy while seeking to comply with legal obligations.
