OnlyFans Fined £1 Million Over Inaccurate Responses to Information Requests

Ofcom has fined Fenix International Limited, the parent company of OnlyFans, £1.05 million for failing to provide adequate responses to formal information requests about its age-assurance measures.

Ofcom said its investigation found Fenix did not transparently demonstrate the effectiveness of its age verification systems, a shortfall in protections designed to prevent minors accessing adult material.

OnlyFans accepted the fine and said it is committed to improving regulatory compliance and strengthening internal controls.

The case highlights the importance for online content providers of robust, transparent age-verification processes, regular compliance audits and timely, accurate information sharing with regulators.

As digital platforms evolve, regulators are demanding higher standards for user safety and corporate accountability, and this enforcement action reflects a broader move toward stricter digital governance.
