OnlyFans has introduced a comprehensive set of content moderation policies aimed at tightening oversight of explicit material while preserving creators’ ability to publish. The changes respond to mounting user and regulatory concerns about harmful or illicit content on the subscription-based platform.
The updated framework combines stricter guidelines with enhanced monitoring, using both human reviewers and artificial intelligence to detect and remove content that breaches community standards more quickly and accurately. The platform has also strengthened creator verification processes to reduce the risk of illicit or misrepresented accounts.
The new rules explicitly prohibit non-consensual content, material involving minors, and content that promotes violence or hate speech. OnlyFans says the policies were developed after consultations with industry experts, creators and users and are designed to align with global regulatory expectations.
Digital safety experts have welcomed the dual approach. Dr. Linda Martinez, a specialist in online content regulation, said automated systems can flag risky material rapidly while human reviewers bring the context and judgment needed for sensitive decisions.
Some creators have expressed concern about potential over-censorship. OnlyFans plans to address those concerns through greater transparency, regular public reporting on moderation outcomes, and clearer channels for appeals and feedback to ensure creators can contest enforcement actions.
The platform will also roll out educational resources, including best-practice guidance, legal information and mental-health support for creators. OnlyFans says the measures aim to balance user safety and platform trust with the creative and economic interests of its global creator community.
