OnlyFans has suspended a planned ban on sexually explicit content following widespread backlash from creators and discussions with its banking partners.
The policy, announced earlier, would have prohibited sexual content beginning October 1, 2021. The announcement prompted immediate concern among users and creators who rely on the platform for income, particularly those in adult entertainment.
OnlyFans said it secured assurances from financial partners that allow the platform to continue hosting a broad range of creator content. The company framed the reversal as necessary to maintain operational continuity and support the platform’s creator community.
