OnlyFans Fined £1 Million Over Inaccurate Responses to Information Requests

Fenix International Limited, the parent company of OnlyFans, has been fined £1.05 million by UK communications regulator Ofcom after an investigation into the accuracy of information submitted about age-assurance methods.

Ofcom found gaps in the data provided on how OnlyFans verifies users’ ages, saying precise and timely reporting is essential for effective oversight and for protecting minors on online platforms. The regulator’s enforcement action highlights obligations for services that host adult content to maintain robust age-verification processes and transparent record-keeping.

OnlyFans said it recognizes the need to improve its systems and has committed to cooperate with regulators and strengthen its compliance procedures.

The case reflects growing regulatory scrutiny of digital platforms and underscores the potential reputational and financial risks of lapses in compliance. Companies operating in the sector are likely to face increased pressure to refine verification technologies, provide clearer reporting to authorities, and bolster safeguards for vulnerable users.
