OnlyFans will ban “sexually explicit” content beginning October 1, the company said, citing pressure from banking and payment partners and tighter regulatory standards governing financial transactions.
The platform said it will still permit nudity within its existing policy boundaries and will publish detailed guidance for creators ahead of the change.
Since its launch, OnlyFans has enabled creators across categories—including celebrities, fitness instructors, chefs, musicians and adult entertainers—to monetize content and build fan relationships. The company reports about 130 million registered users, 2 million creators and roughly $5 billion in creator earnings.
OnlyFans has expanded its non-explicit offerings through OFTV, a streaming app available on major app stores that features fitness, cooking, comedy and music programming.
The upcoming policy shift poses a significant challenge for adult content creators who relied on the site for income, while creating opportunities for other creators to diversify content and revenue streams within a regulated framework.
OnlyFans said the move reflects changing financial partner dynamics and broader compliance expectations and that it is committed to transparency and to providing guidance and tools to help creators transition.
The change marks a new chapter for the platform as it seeks to balance creator support, regulatory compliance and long-term sustainability.
