OnlyFans reversed a planned ban on sexually explicit content after widespread backlash from creators and users, the company announced. The initial policy drew criticism that it would threaten the incomes of creators who rely on the platform.
OnlyFans said it has secured assurances from payment processors and banking partners that allow it to continue hosting sexually explicit material. The company said those guarantees remove a key obstacle to permitting such content without interruption.
Launched in 2016, OnlyFans enables creators — including adult entertainers, fitness instructors, musicians, artists and chefs — to monetize exclusive content and connect with subscribers. The company framed the reversal as a response to community feedback and a step toward maintaining an inclusive platform while navigating regulatory and financial challenges.
