OnlyFans Owner in Talks to Sell Platform for £5.9bn

Fenix International, the parent company of UK-based platform OnlyFans, is in talks to sell the site for about £5.9 billion, according to reports. The negotiations are said to be led by a consortium headed by US investment firm Forest Road Company, whose board includes former Disney and TikTok executive Kevin Mayer.

OnlyFans, launched in 2016, has grown into a major online subscription platform with more than 4 million creator accounts and around 305 million users worldwide.

For the fiscal year ending November 2023 the platform reported $1.3 billion in revenue, a 20% increase from the previous year, and pre-tax profits of $658 million, up 25%.

Creator and fan accounts each grew by nearly 30% over the same period. Creators on the platform earned a combined $6.6 billion in 2023.

Although often associated with adult content, OnlyFans has diversified its offerings to include comedy, lifestyle and celebrity content, expanding its appeal across demographics.

OnlyFans representatives declined to comment on the reported sale talks. If completed, the transaction would be a significant development in the digital content and subscription economy, reflecting the platform’s market value and role in creator monetization.
