OnlyFans Fined £1m Over Inaccurate Responses to Information Requests

Ofcom has fined Fenix International Limited, the company behind OnlyFans, £1.05 million for providing inaccurate information about its age verification systems used to prevent minors accessing adult content.

The regulator issued formal requests in 2022 and 2023 and found inaccuracies in data about Fenix’s age estimation technology. Fenix proactively admitted the inaccuracies during Ofcom’s investigation.

Ofcom said the case underlines the importance of robust, transparent age assurance measures and of providing accurate information to regulators. The enforcement action reflects the regulator’s focus on protecting vulnerable users and ensuring digital platforms meet compliance requirements.

The fine highlights growing regulatory scrutiny of digital subscription services that host sensitive content and signals the potential consequences of non-compliance. Industry experts expect intensified oversight and continued pressure on platforms to strengthen verification and compliance systems to maintain public trust and user safety.
